Did you know he changed his name from Davy Jones because of the fame of the Monkees?

Artist: David Bowie
Album: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
Genre: Rock, Glam rock, Hard rock, Art rock
Release date: June 16, 1972

Description:
Welcome to this, the 5th studio album from David Bowie. This release features Bowie's backing band The Spiders From Mars. This album was seen by many as a concept album (in the loose sense) and a rock opera. The record tells the story of Bowie's other ego, Ziggy Stardust, a bisexual and androgynous character sent to earth as a Rock Star hero right before a disaster of apocalyptic proportions.

Favorite Track: Suffragette City

Reason: The heavy crunch of the guitar in the beginning, calling out, is a big plus. It draws you in right away. The rock rhythm of the song draws the listening along the lyrical journey of this piece. I love the bass line grooving along while it leads the band. With the piano in the back of the groove, it draws you in at the end of the song along with the synth. Finally, Wham, Bam, Thank you, Mam, the final chorus rocks and rolls right into the abrupt end.

Album Rating: 9.6/10

This Rock Opera style concept album is a must for all fans of Bowie, Rock, and Pop music lovers alike. The story telling is on point for this release. With the wonderfully unique glam style instrumentals, I am always drawn in, wanting to hear more and more. The rhythms are very catchy, and I love playing along every one. I especially love the story of Bowie's alter-ego. The title song Ziggy Stardust brings back those great childhood memories of playing Guitar Hero in my parents' basement on Christmas Eve. Overall, this album is one of my favorite albums to listen to.
